As the part of the German International Cooperation program "Public Finance Management in the South Caucasus", a visiting expert Pete Fontaine, the former assistant director for the budget analysis unit of the US Congressional Budget office, held discussion meetings with the staff of the parliamentary budget office of Georgia on November 21-25, 2016.
on July 8 -11, the regional seminar on the "Role of Parliamentary Budget Office and Supreme Audit Office in the budget oversight process" organized by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur lnternationale Zusammenarbeit ) in the framework of "Public Finance Management in the South Caucasus" took place in Borjomi, Georgia. The aim was to discuss and share the experiences of Georgia and Armenia in the process of carried out reforms and enhancing institutions for strengthening parliamentary oversight and financial control of the executive.
The Speaker met Mr. Mark Dembowicz- Head of strategy, operations and communications unit, Mr. Jon Riley – Head of Tax and fiscal forecasts unit and Mr. Tom Pybus – Head of Macroeconomic forecasts unit from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) UK.
In the framework of strategic partnership, representatives of the parliamentary budget office chaired by the acting head Ms. Tatia Khetaguri and experts from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) held meetings. During the meeting, the role of parliamentary budget office and the office for budget responsibility (UK) in the overall fiscal framework was actively discussed.
On April 11-12, the Parliamentary Delegation, mainly the head Mr. Tamaz Mechiauri and deputy head Mr. Nodar Ebanoidze from the Budget and Finance Committee, together with the acting head of Parliamentary Budget Office Ms. Tatia Khetaguri and PFM adviser Ms. Inga Sinjikashvili (GIZ program "Public Finance Management in the South Caucasus") took part in the 8th annual meeting of OECD Parliamentary Budget Officials and Independent Fiscal Institutions in Paris.
At the official website of the parliamentary budget office, it is already possible to see the periodic reporting calendar indicating the deadlines of publishing reports for both the budget analysis and macroeconomic analysis units.
We would like to announce, that in December, Parliamentary Budget Office started a new project on “Video notes of basic concepts of macroeconomics and public financial management". The project aims to present explanations of basic conceptions in short video presentations format that may be interesting for the customers of Parliamentary Budget Office products. The project also considers preparing video notes on each research publications of Parliamentary Budget office. As an example you can see: research publication on “fiscal multiplier: the essence and evaluation”
