In the framework of strategic partnership, representatives of the parliamentary budget office chaired by the acting head Ms. Tatia Khetaguri and experts from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) held meetings. During the meeting, the role of parliamentary budget office and the office for budget responsibility (UK) in the overall fiscal framework was actively discussed.
As the acting head of Parliamentary Budget Office Ms. Tatia Khetaguri stated that "the main focus of the strategic partnership between the parliamentary budget office and the office for budget responsibility is to update the forecast methodologies and improve communications".
The held meeting is the first part of the project.
Today, the representatives of OBR UK: Mr. Mark Dembowicz - Head of strategy, operations and communications unit, Mr. Jon Riley – Head of Tax and fiscal forecasts unit and Mr. Tom Pybus – Head of Macroeconomic forecasts unit met with the member of the supervisory board of PBO and the deputy head of Budget and Finance Committee Mr. Nodar Ebanoidze.
During the visit the issues like the macroeconomic forecasts methodologies (used in OBR UK and Parliamentary Budget Office) is going to be discussed and related further steps for improving them, as well as research topics. The visit of OBR representatives in Tbilisi is going to finish on May 18, 2016.
The project is implemented with the help of UK Good Governance Fund (GGF), which aims to support 5 countries from Eastern Europe in the process of reforms.
In Georgia, the project is implemented by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP UK (PwC) and Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG).
